Waterville, Maine (May 5, 2020) - Maine Crisp, a specialty food company making gluten-free crackers, was approved for Hannaford’s Direct Service Delivery (DSD) Local Program. The three flavors, Cranberry Almond, Wild Blueberry Walnut, and Cinnamon Maple, are available at ten stores in Central Maine. This program enables local suppliers and producers to distribute their products directly to a group of stores for up to one year before the possibility of expanding into the broader Hannaford distribution system.
“It's great that Hannaford is providing a wider market opportunity for local specialty food brands! The crisps are selling well and we were thrilled to see them for the first time on display in our local stores. With more customers learning and excited about creating their own cheese boards with charcuterie, crackers and sides, Hannaford is a great place to find all of those options in one store” said Karen Getz, Maine Crisp co-founder.
Maine Crisps can now be found in the following stores: Augusta, Gardiner, Waldoboro, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, China, Damariscotta, and both Waterville locations (Elm Street Plaza and JFK Plaza). While the crisps are gluten-free, they are featured in the deli and cheese specialty displays at these locations. Getz, excited about the prominent placement of the products, stated, “The deli managers have been great to work with, very knowledgeable and they’re placing our crisps in good locations with obvious excitement about featuring another Maine-made product”. Maine Crisp is committed to supporting and developing their relationship with Hannaford and providing Hannaford customers with quality, gluten-free crackers.
