Waterville, ME (October 27, 2018) - On September 13-15 2018, investors from across New England gathered on a tour to visit Maine’s growing premium grain industry. The tour was designed to give grain-related food producers the opportunity to present business plans and growth strategy to investors and economic development professionals who could offer financial assistance. The series was created to expand opportunities for these innovative young companies to grow their networks and continue conversations with attendees about scalability and market expansion.
“As a young but fast growing specialty food company, our most important ingredient is naturally gluten-free buckwheat and that comes directly from a Northern Maine family farm. We are thrilled to tell the supply chain story and stress the need for support to these young companies. As we and others grow the market for specialty foods using Maine ingredients, the market for Maine agricultural producers will grow as well” said Steve Getz, co-founder and presenter at the event.
Maine Tastemakers Capital Access Series, a partnership between Coastal Enterprises, Inc, Focus Maine and O’Maine Studios, features events that connect Maine entrepreneurs with the investment community and supports innovative food businesses at different stages of growth. Tastemakers’ series showcases Maine's leading food and beverage industries and entrepreneurs to deliver unique industry insight and learning experiences for investors via field excursions to picturesque regions of Maine.
